Imogen in consideration for “The Seventh Son”
1 April | Posted by Celia | Filed Under: News, The Seventh Son

Imogen is being considered for yet another big movie, The Seventh Son, a version of The Last Apprentice along with Felicity Jones and Dianna Agron.

With Julianne Moore and Jeff Bridges set to lend their considerable talents to the supernatural tentpole “The Seventh Son,” the job is now finding a duo of young thesps to power this thing to the tween demographic it needs.

With Alex Pettyfer bowing out and Jennifer Lawrence now focused on “The Hunger Games,” a wide net is being cast for the roles of Tom and Alice in the film that follows the former, the seventh son of a seventh son in the 1700s who discovers he has the ability to see creatures of the dark, and trains to become a ‘Spook’ in order to fight evil. Bridges will play Master Gregory who trains Tom, while Moore is lined up as the villain, Mother Malkin, who sucks the blood out of young women to keep her youth. And as with most tentpoles these days, basically every young actor and actress of note in town is up for the open roles.

Variety reports that Sam Claflin (”Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”), Caleb Landry-Jones (Banshee in “X-Men: First Class”) and James Frecheville (”Animal Kingdom”) are testing for Tom, while Imogen Poots (”Solitary Man”), Felicity Jones (Sundance sensation “Like Crazy”), Alicia Vikander, Gabrielle Wild and Dianna Agron (”Glee”) are up for Alice.

Imogen Toplines “Hello Darkness”
10 February | Posted by Celia | Filed Under: Jane Eyre, News

An article about the 2012 film Hello Darkness including a synopsis has been released.

From Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland comes Hello Darkness, which stars Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots (pictured below; 28 Weeks Later, Centurion, Fright Night, V for Vendetta), and Julie Christie (Red Riding Hood). Now in pre-production, Hello Darkness is described as a genre-bending, kitchen-sink vampire movie with a potent love triangle at its beating heart. Here’s the long synopsis:

“Mark Cooper is an ordinary working-class man who became a vampire. He reached his prime in the early sixties and as a result of his conversion, never left it. Eternally young, he is the Angry Young Man preserved in amber. He lives in Newcastle, a town famed for its drunken excess, providing ideal feeding grounds. But the accidental death of a girl ends with a manhunt for a “Vampire Killer.”

Cooper lives with Rachel, his support for almost four decades, in an uneasy role somewhere between wife and mother. Long ago Cooper proposed to convert Rachel, but she chose to grow older while he remains eternally twenty-five. News that he’s a wanted man brings the tension in the house to breaking point.

On the prowl for victims, Cooper meets a beautiful posh student, Lucy. Entranced by her vivacity, he gets his overpowering first taste of blue blood.

But the union between Cooper and Lucy brews trouble; it brings out the staunch territorialism of Rachel and the snobbishness of Lucy’s friends. Meanwhile, the search for the Vampire Killer is intensifying. Cooper is driven into a crisis as he stares bleakly into eternity, and Lucy is forced to choose between the light moneyed world of her peers and the dark working class reality of her lover.”

Imogen to star in “The Laureate”
28 January | Posted by Celia | Filed Under: Movies, News, The Laureate

Looks like Imogen has signed onto yet another project! She is set to star in the period drama, The Laureate alongside Orlando Bloom and Kerry Codon.

Screen Daily announces that Bloom will topline “The Laureate,” a project from Media 8 (”Running Scared”) and writer/director William Nunez, which shows the love triangle between Graves, his wife, the artist Nancy Nicholson, and the American poet Laura Riding. The three lived together in Cairo and London in an open triangle for many years, until Graves began to favor Riding. Bloom will be joined by Playlist favorite Imogen Poots (the upcoming “Fright Night”), who’ll play Riding, and rising Irish star Kerry Condon (”The Last Station”), who’ll play Nicholson.

When the project was first announced at Cannes last year, the “Captain America” duo of Dominic Cooper and Hayley Atwell were attached, but both have fallen off due to scheduling conflicts. Director Nunez says that: “At its core, ‘The Laureate’ will be a study of intense relationships: what created them, what can undo them, what they encompass, what they can alter, and what they can’t.”
